1893 Tiffany & Co. Globe clock, 8-day brass , 2-tiered brass movement signed Charles Scholle, Maker, April 17, l893 for Columbia Expositin(sic). Lower part of case containing movement represents a roofed temple of classic form. The twelve pillars represent the months of the year, below which are marked the hours in Roman numerals, upon which a hand indicates the time of day. On the roof over the pillars are the signs of the zodiac and the names of the months with a hand to indicate the calendar month. The globe revolves on an axis over the roof. The map of the world is enameled in blue. A silver band circles the globe at the equator inscribed with the 24 hours. The globe makes one revolution every 24 hours and the time of day on any part of the globe can be told from the band. Another time -indicator an arm extending from the axis contains the sun which declines north and south of the equator according to the period of the year. Upon another arm extending from the axis is a small sphere representing the moon, making another revolution around the globe each month, and showing the phases of the moon.
