c. 1850 Seth Thomas shelf clock 8-day brass spring-driven time and strike lyre plate movement, smooth wheels, correct type but not original to clock. Label reads, "Manufactured and Sold by Seth Thomas, Plymouth Hollow, Conn." "Patent Spring Brass Eight Day Clocks" Has engraving of stage coach with four horses and man and woman riding horses. Miniature version of four-column case. Lower tablet is reverse painted. Painted zinc Roman dial with hand-painted spandrels. Movement and dial taken from Bryson Moore clock #170, miniature half-column. Reference American Clocks, Vol. 3 by Tran Duy Ly, page 38. Pendulum is located on 101.75 |
