C 1895 Vanner & Prest Molliscori This movement is a variation of the Seth Thomas No. 97 and has a 36 tooth escape wheel. Unlike earlier movements produced for Baird that carried a Seth Thomas trademark on the plate, this example merely states "Baird Clock Co./Plattsburg/NY" and "15" (the theoretical pendulum length. Vanner and Prest were English oil merchants. A label inside the lower door lists them at Ormside Street, London, SE "Mollisorium" was a patented oil for softening harness and other items made of leather. "VP" was an oil used by couriers and tanners and "Embrocation was a liniment for humans. |
