Description |
Eight -day movement with brass wheels and plates, cut steel pinions with a recoil escapement. Step train wheel layout, steel pendulum crutch. Lead weight with large duck-bill hook. Brass weight pulley with two circles of fine punch marks on front side. Curtis style pendulum keystone with bottom right cutout. Steel pierced loop hands, (Curtis style) with four loops on hour hand and five on the minute hand. Mahogany cased with mahagony acorn finial. Laminated wood bezel with the original convex glass. Convex painted iron dial, Roman numerals, signed "Warranted by Curtis and Dunning" in script. below the hands. The lower box has dovetailed top and bottom corners. The wood frames are cross banded mahogany with blind mortise and tenon construction. The throat and door panels are bow shaped with crotch mahogany veneer and applied mahagony squares in each of the corners. Bezel and box frame are fastened by cast brass hooks with original staples. Elliptical type tie-down. |
