Description |
30-hour brass time and strike movement utilizing an endless chain (single weight) pull-up winding. Repeat-on-demand rack and snail strike. Painted iron break arch dial with calendar opening below the center arbor. Upper dial spandrels consist of spray of 3 painted cherries, lower spandrels are painted with a spray of a single flower (rose?). Signed John Eberman, Lancaster below the XII. Transfer decal (?) in dial arch shows and open book with an oval background of flowers, leaves and other objects. The Latin inscription on the open pages of the book reads "Monumentum quod ex truxisti sit perenne ut coelum". Walnut flat-top case. Hood has 1/2 turned columns attached to the sides at the rear. The door with 3/4 turned columns attached on either side. Rectangular domed lites in the sides of the hood. The waist and base have 1/4 turned columns at their corners. Waist door with a break arch top echoing that of the hood. Bracket feet on the base. |
