Description |
Wood cased mahagony banjo clock . Uses wood in place of brass side-arms, and reverse painted throat and door glasses. The "A" frame movement of this timepiece, which is screwed to the rear of the case, is similar to movements made by David Williams, also of Newport, Rhode Island. The major differences are the placement of the round pendulum "stirrup'" in front of the hour wheel instead of behind it as normally encountered, and the placement of the minute wheel on the right instead of the left side of the movement. The winding arbor hole in the dial is on the seven minute radius instead of the five minute or two o'clock radius, another unusual feature. The reverse of the dial is signed with the dial painter's signature,"G.Hedrick/Painter/Lowell". |
