c. 1972 Beeler Grasshopper escapement model The grasshopper escapement was invented in 1730 by James Harrison, the younger brother of John Harrison. Both brothers used the escapement in their clocks, although those of James had curved escape wheel teeth, while those of John, like the ones of this model, had straight teeth. Engraved on the back of dial "Made and designed by Fred A. Beeler, Kalamazoo Mi. Completed May 13, 1972 clock #10" |
