Description |
Mahagony cased column and cornice clock with paw feet and carved capitals on the columns. A cut-out area under the cornice contains a panel with gilded decoration on a grey ground, with a black stripe surrounding the upper portion. Wood painted dial with a lunar shaped cut-out in the center to expose the rack and snail feature. Gold painted chapter ring and spandrels in the corners. Upper and lower doors with a painted advertising panel insert between them, which reads "Eight Day Repeating Brass Clock. Made by C.& N. Jerome, Bristol, Ct. 1835". Lower door with a new reverse painted glass by Lee Davis. Label inside the case states, " Eight-Day Repeating Brass Clocks, Manufactured and Sold by C.& N. Jerome, Bristol, Conn." 8-Day brass time and strike weight driven movement on a seat board, solid rear plate, blanked out front plate, rack and snail located between the plates. Bell strike. |
