"Arditi," 8-day brass spring-driven time and strike movement, Daniel J. Gale's 1885 patent calendar, stamped Patent Applied For. Label on back: Eight Day Arditi. Calendar Strike D. J. Gale's Patent. Label inside: Gale's New Perpetual Calendar. Directions. . . . To Set Calendar. Upper dial replaced, lower dial has three hands for day, date and month. Black walnut case Gale patented three calendar clock mechanisms, this uses his third patent from 1885 that was used by the E.N. Welch Mfg. Co. in this "Arditi" shelf model, as well as their "Damrosch" wall model. On this piece, the base, splat, and dial have been restored. |
