Uses a unique cutter which allows it to cut the rounded edge of the tooth. These cutters only have teeth on about 240 degrees of the circle. After the wheel cutting engine divides and cuts the wheel into an equal number of teeth, the wheel is left with flat straight teeth. These must then be rounded to a shape which will better mesh with the various pinions and wheels of the watch. The rounding up tool completes the teeth by cutting a slight round to the top of each tooth. |
