c. 1866 Chauncey Jerome shelf clock 30-hour Austin-type spring-driven time and strike movement, 12-hour count wheel attached to main wheel at back of movement, lyre-shaped plates, external alarm mechanism, repainted zinc Roman dial with cutout center for alarm disc. Black hands and two winding arbors for strike and time at 4 and 8. Label: " Chauncey Jerome, Austin, Ill. Warranted A Good Time-Keeper." Mahogany veneered sharp Gothic case with beveled door front, tablet with gold bird and nest with border, black background. |
