Notes |
John Fitzgerlad Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States, was the youngest man and the first Roman Catholic to be elected to the office. He defeated Richard Nixon in 1960. His seemingly ideal family life and progressive political plans led his term to be dubbed "Camelot". In the midst of the cold war, Kennedy faced challenges in his Presidency, such as the Cuban missile crisis, the Bay of Pigs invasion and the Arms race. He supported civil rights and endeavors such as space exploration. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, TX. on November 22, 1963. |
