c. 1880 Southern Calendar Clock Co. shelf clock 8-day time and strike (on bell) brass movement made by Seth Thomas for the Southern Clock Company. Fashion No 3 model, circa 1877. Separate calendar mechanism for the month and day of the week.Walnut case with three walnut finials. Glass door has "Fashion"in goldleaf between the two dials.Upper dial reads, "Patented Dec. 28 1875." Within the seconds dial, "Patented April 16, 1875." Lower calendar dial reads, "Southern Calendar Clock Co./ St. Louis, MO./ Patented March 18th 1879. Label on backboard inside gives directions for setting calendar. Says, "Seth Thomas Clock Co./ Thomaston, Conn., USA/ Solely for the Southern Clock Co., St. Louis, MO." |
