c. 1850 Smith and Goodrich shelf clock 30-hour time and strike modified Type 5.412 brass movement with wooden fusees attached to steel frame on bottom of mechanism. Label reads, "Thirty Hour Spring Brass Clocks; Springs with equalized power, warranted not to fail; Manufactured and Sold by/Smith & Goodrich/ Bristol, Conn." Label printed by Elihu Geer at 10 State Street, Hartford. Case has mirrored lower tablet. Dial surrounds are reverse painted and stenciled. Roman numeral dial with winding arbors at 4 and 8 and black hands. Reference The Contributions of Joseph Ives to Connecticut Clock Technology, Revised Second Edition by Kenneth D.
