Description |
This Gale drop calendar Model No. 1 contains both an 8-day time and strike movement and a calendar movement. 12" painted dial with four subsidiary dials. Outer ring indicates days of the month. The top subsidiary dial indicates the hours and minutes. The lower subsidiary dial indicates sunrise and sunset (apparent time) every seventh day. The right subsidiary dial indicates the moon phases and the left indicates the day of the week. Within the lower subsidiary dial is printed, "Gale's Patent Feb. 14th 1871." Label inside reads, "Extra Eight Day Steel Pivoted Rolling Pinion/Perpetual Calendar Clocks/Both Weight and Spring, In Office, Mantel and Regulator Style/ Put up in Rosewood Cases. Manufactured by Welch, Spring & Co., Forestville Conn., U.S.A." Label on back of door glass gives instructions. Lower door has goldleaf surrounding bob opening on a black ground. Rosewood case.
