Description |
Case is made of ebonized oak with ormolu mounts. Bonnet is one piece without a door made to lift upward, not slide forward. Clock has been recased and redialed. Brass dial (10" square) is a Knibb dial but the placement of dial feet and plugged holes indicate it was intended for use on a 30 hour clock and predates the movement by almost 15 years. Dial engraved with floral patterns,is signed "Joseph Knibb, London". Narrow silvered chapter ring witih Roman mumerals for hours and Arabic for minutes. Dial and movement plates are fastened with latches. Eight day movement with anchor escapement, count wheel strike, seconds pendulum. Blued steel hands appear to be origninal. |
