c. 1845 Silas B. Terry shelf clock. 30-hour brass time and strike movement with some wooden wheels. Weight driven with rack lever escapement. Has a balance wheel rather than a pendulum. Eli Terry invented teh balance wheel and granted patent for it on August 9, 1845. Mahogany case with three-quarter columns and reverse painted tablet that might not be original. Painted wood dial with seconds indicator and an aperture to show the balance wheel. |
