Description |
Early 19th Century Luther Goddard Pocket Watch #462 The pocket watch has an English style fusee movement with verge escapement and a full plate which is intricately designed with American patriotic symbolism. The museum has one other Luther Goddard Pocket watch, #497 (Catalogue # 83.82.2560). This piece is an earlier serial number and in much better condition. It is possible that the hands, dials, hairsprings, verges, steel pinions, wire, and chains were purchased from a dealer in Boston. All plates, wheels, and brass were made in Shrewsberry, MA.
